Love, Christianity, Jesus and Salvation

It seems like Christianity and Jesus are increasingly under attack. What's going on? What we'll be looking at is what happens when Christians use human wisdom to interpret the Bible, twisting scripture away from its intended message. This blog is dedicated to using Scripture itself to interpret and help us understand Scripture. You are welcome to add your comments and thoughts. Other viewpoints are welcome. Disagreements are welcome.

Romans 5:8

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." - (NASB)

This is one of my favorite verses because it reveals several wonderful things about who God is and what love is.

It is amazing that while there was no good in us at all, God gave His Son to die to pay the penalty for our sins. This means that while we were enemies of God, God made the ultimate sacrifice for our benefit. God loves His enemies so much, that He gave Himself to die on the cross for them (us). Are we willing to give of ourselves to such an extent that we die to benefit our enemies? God did.

Look at the third word in this verse. It makes an important point. When God talks about "love", He is not talking about a warm fuzzy feeling. In the Bible the word "love" is a verb. It means action. God did not sit up in heaven and tell us how much He loved us. He demonstrated His love through action. He gave is only Son so that we might live.

When we say we love our neighbor, is that love an action? What are you doing to help (love) your neighbor?

When we say we love the homeless, are we doing that love through our actions?

When you say you love those who have not heard the Gospel around the world, are you putting that love into action?

When we say we love our enemies, are we living that love through our actions?

The most encouraging thing I've seen in a while is that there are zero comments for all of these little blurbs you've got up here. Obviously, the only people reading this stuff are people like me, who derive a bit of entertainment from things like your claim that dinosaurs were on Noah's Ark.

Honestly, man, you slay me. What a card. Keep up the good work. Ever think of selling this stuff as a comedy DVD or something? I'm serious.

Amen God is love and we must demonstrate our love to other just as Christ did to us. We as Christians has to be Christ like which mean walk and do as Christ did.
Good word, Thank you and I love you in Jesus!
